Coordinator for the Observatory of Mediterranean Wetlands programme

Mission :

The Tour du Valat is looking for a senior project leader to coordinate the Observatory programme.
The coordinator will have the following responsibilities within the programme:

  • implementing and developing the programme according to the guidelines defined in the five-year plan, working with the in-house team and the international partners, whilst also consolidating this partnership.
  • developing institutional, technical, scientific and financial partnerships to strengthen the project and guarantee its future.
  • coordinating and managing a pluri-disciplinary team.
  • reporting to the Programme Director and Science Council.

The coordinator will work under the supervision of the Programme Director and in collaboration with two other coordinators.

Profil :

  • Engineering degree and/or doctorate in ecology or another scientific discipline (geography, etc.)
    including a strong environmental dimension: combined research and applied expertise would be
    preferable.
  • At least 7 years professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Extensive knowledge of threats and issues regarding the protection of biodiversity, particularly in
    relation to Mediterranean wetlands.
  • Professional experience of issues linked to observatories and indicators.
  • Good knowledge of the institutional organisations and networks that play a part in the conservation of Mediterranean wetlands (NGOs, EU, Ramsar Convention, etc.).
  • Excellent team and programme management skills.
  • Leadership, strategic analysis and networking skills.
  • Autonomy, ability to take initiative, analyse and adopt a global approach.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Proficient command of English and French, both written and spoken, is imperative. Other Mediterranean languages would be a bonus.
  • Must be able to relocate for short-term missions in Mediterranean countries and further afield.
  • Driving licence.

Durée :

Permanent contract.

Salary according to experience and skills, based on the scale set by the CCNA collective
agreement in force at the Foundation.
